8th Canadian Workshop on Fusarium Head Blight

November 20, 2016 – November 22, 2016 – Ottawa, Ontario

Top researchers from NRC will attend the 8th Canadian Workshop on Fusarium Head Blight to showcase NRC’s expertise in Fusarium Head Blight and research developments in resisting the disease wreaking havoc on one of the world’s most popular food crops, wheat.

The three-day workshop will focus on highlighting recent developments in breeding for resistance in cereal crops, genomics and genetics of the host and pathogen, mycotoxin detection, epidemiology and disease management. The workshop is part of the Growing Ideas joint conference that provides a forum for industry stakeholders, including researchers, producers, grain handlers, end users, consumers and regulators to discuss the latest discoveries and progress on solving the problems caused by Fusarium species in cereal crops and wheat research. Providing a forum for top experts to discuss their findings will potentially achieve the aim of the conference to foster collaborative action plans to deal with important economic, social, health and safety issues.
